Hear Cee-Lo Cover Kings of Leon - “Radioactive”
Kings of Leon’s latest single might be one of the weaker cuts on their new album… when they play it, but hand it over to one Cee-Lo Green and here’s a jam I can truly get behind. While the Followill boys honorably reached for the heavens and fell a bit short of the pearly gates, Cee-Lo’s stripped-down take — backed by acoustic guitar, piano, and sparse percussion — fulfills the song’s inspirational promise. Don’t hold back. If there’s something beautiful out there that you want (and there will be plenty), go for it. The more beauty you surround yourself with, the happier you’ll be. And the happier you are, the more beautiful you’ll be. And the more beautiful you are, the more people will be attracted to you. Hmmm are you sensing a pattern? guy who built his own guitar
he got some much joy from sharing something beautiful he made with other people. all he wanted to do was pass on the gift of his guitar. he didn’t want famous guitarists to play it so he could say they did, he just wanted them to be able to experience something so rare and amazing.

this guy comes in to the sandwich store i work at every single day and gets a roast beef sandwich with peppers and pepper jack cheese. every. day. and a minute maid lemonade in a can. and he is always so cheery and pleasant and incredibly friendly. i never see him with anyone else but he is always so content.

this adorable lady also comes into the sandwich shop and i just think she is wonderful. she just got back from the hospital - she had been gone for two weeks and is now tring to catch up with her work. she is so sweet and i hope she has a quick recovery. she is gaelic and is a teacher at the university. for some reason, she just makes me smile.

but this one is probably what inspired me to write this post. my coworker and i were talking about how we were kind of having a shitty day and he was like yeah today is the worst. nothing about him screamed that he was having a bad day. just looked like an average workman. i asked him what was wrong and he said oh, just so much.
it is so important to treat everyone you meet kindly because you have no idea what is going on in their lives.
and when you’re having a bad day - you’re not alone. in fact, it’s pretty likely that there are quite a few people whose day is much worse.

“don’t sweat the small stuff. life’s too short. you have to live for today. no one told you you’re gonna wake up tomorrow morning.” some how, with everything i do, i meet an old man who gives me some sort of life lesson. he told me how he likes who he is and he could care less what other people think because he likes his life and that’s all that matters. you just have to worry about yourself, enjoying your life, and loving what you do. it’s always nice to have someone remind you of those things i think.

Never forget that you don’t need someone who doesn’t need you. Miracles come out of love, and pain only holds you back from the chance to experience the beauty of it.
Think about your life and everything you have experienced, both good and bad. Don’t dwell on what happened or the mistakes that you have been made. Focus on the beauty. Einstein said there are two ways of looking at life, one is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is. Choose the second. It is an extraordinary world. We should all be shocked & awed that we even get a chance to exist. Shocked & awed at every creation on the planet. We should feel so lucky that we get a second chance every day.
Spend quality time with someone you really love. Spend more time outside. Sit by the water & watch the waves crash on the shore. Watch the sun rise and set, getting close to things we take for granted lets us appreciate life. Love, laugh, and learn. Clear your mind of the things that hurt you. Focus on life. Dare to dream, as though you have nothing to lose. Go for it. Don’t fall into a routine of heartbreak where you lose your sense of wonder. Take nothing for granted. Once you’ve made up your mind to live your life to the best of your ability despite of any obstacles that might come in your way, you’ll find it’s easier to live. Every day of your life may offer limitless challenges, but believing in yourself, that you will get through the tears, the heartbreak, and the failures is all you need. Live in the present moment. Not the past or the future. Enjoy the here and now. <3

im sitting here this morning drinking some coffee and essentially had an epiphany. er, not quite an epiphany. more of a realization i guess? i dont know. those may be the same thing for all i know. i can not believe where i am right now, what im doing in the next few weeks, and who i get to spend my time with. i am so incredibly lucky and i cant describe how grateful i feel about everything that i have. my friends. my job. scope. my apartment. my family. just everything. its funny how some days, it can seem like everything is falling apart but in reality, life is probably better than you think it is.
This life is what you make it. Not matter what, you’re going to mess up sometimes, it’s a universal truth. But the good part is you get to decide how you’re going to mess it up. Girls will be your friends - they’ll act like it anyway. But just remember, some come, some go. The ones that stay with you through everything - they’re your true best friends. Don’t let go of them. Also remember, sisters make the best friends in the world. As for lovers, well, they’ll come and go too. And babe, I hate to say it, most of them - actually pretty much all of them are going to break your heart, but you can’t give up becuase if you give up, you’ll never find your soul mate. You’ll never find that half who makes you whole and that goes for everything. Just because you fail once, doesn’t mean you’re gonna fail at everything. Keep trying, hold on, and always, always, always believe in yourself, because if you don’t, then who will, sweetie? So keep your head high, keep your chin up, and most importantly, keep smiling, because life’s a beautiful thing and there’s so much to smile about.
